Toffee is a gorgeous senior lady who is looking for a retirement home. Her ideal family will be home more often that not and allow her to snuggle up closely. Toffee is a very good-natured dog who is happiest when she is curled up beside someone. She loves people and is happy to show off her belly and ask for some rubs! Since Toffee is older, she is really not fond of grabby children. She would prefer to relax in peace and quiet. Toffee has lived with both cats and other dachshunds, she did great with both!
Toffee has had dental work done in the past with some extractions and now has moderate tartar on her remaining teeth. She has no loose teeth and she happily eats kibble. Toffee will not be a candidate for any further dental procedures because she has a GRADE 5 HEART MURMUR. She does not require any medications, but should be monitored for coughing, as she is likely to progress to congestive heart failure. Her senior blood panel was quite impressive for her age. She has no ongoing issues aside from some seasonal allergies, just like the rest of us! She just had a skin tag removed from her front right paw. The only reason for the procedure was to provide comfort while walking. The skin tag is otherwise not concerning. Toffee is also happy to report that she is heartworm negative and free of any tick-borne diseases.
Toffee is entering rescue due to no fault of her own, as her owner’s dementia has progressed and local family member are unable to have pets in their homes. Her family would like to keep in touch with her adopter, with some photos and updates, if possible.
Toffee is located in DAYTON, OH and is available for an adoption fee of $200.00. The adoption fee may be reduced to $100.00 for seniors (65+) adopting seniors.
