Rooster is a 2-year-old black and tan long-haired miniature dachshund. Rooster came from a breeding facility where he spent a lot of time in a kennel and was not socialized with people much. Living in a home is new for him and can be a little scary at times, though he is adapting well. He has bonded quickly with his foster mom and wants to always be by her side. He loves to sit on her lap and snuggle in bed with her.
Rooster is not housebroken but he is picking up on it. He has been wearing a belly band in the house to prevent him from marking. Rooster was recently neutered, so this behavior may subside shortly.
Rooster is a little nervous but very gentle and quiet except when foster mom leaves… foster dad says he howls the entire time she is gone. He also barks when he is in a crate. He would probably do best with someone who is home more often than not. Rooster loves to play with his foster siblings (2 mini dachshunds), have really helped him adapt into living in a home. For this reason, he would do best with a home with another small dog.
He also loves spending time out in the backyard, so a fenced yard would be ideal. After learning to walk on a leash he also has discovered he loves going for walks. Rooster is such a sweetheart and is ready for his furever home!
Rooster is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and vaccinated.
Rooster is being fostered in Hilliard, OH and is available for an adoption fee of $375.00. Applications to adopt may be submitted via the following website: www.sophiasgracefoundation.org
