BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Petey. I came to SGF when my family passed away. Me and my siblings had
nowhere to go and were left alone in our mommy’s house. A family member came to take care of us daily, but they knew we deserved better to live out our retirement years.
I came to SGF with several health conditions: chronic bronchitis, collapsed trachea, heart
disease with a grade ⅚ murmur, severe dental disease, an oral mass, early-stage kidney
disease, and bilateral luxating patella's (they don’t slow me down any, I can still scurry away if needed!). Because of my heart condition, my much needed dental and oral mass removal was a risk, and the vet didn’t feel comfortable putting me back under anesthesia to be spayed. At the time of my dental, I had 12 extractions and a moderately-sized mass removed from my gingiva – I am feeling SO much better! All of this is managed with medicine and the medications are very reasonably priced (approx. $60-70/ month total). After all, I am only 5 lbs., so I don’t need large dosages. I’m also on a vet prescribed renal diet.
It seems like I could be a handful, but besides a few ongoing health issues, I’m super easy going. All I want is a nice fluffy dog bed and a blanket to curl up in. I’ll do some cute little howls when I want your attention, which I promise won’t be an all-day thing. I’m not much of a cuddler, but I appreciate some pets throughout the day. I’d do well with someone who can let me out every few hours to lessen the risk of accidents. I try my best to go on pee pads if they’re around, though. If you’re looking for companionship but don’t want a dog that’s constantly all over you, I think we can be good pals. I enjoy wandering around the yard on a cool, sunny day and napping. I may be a senior gal, but I’ve still got some spunk left in me. If you’re looking for a laid back, senior pup, I’d love to come live with you and spend time together napping the days away.
Petey is being fostered in Pataskala, OH and is available for a suggested adoption donation of $100.00. Petey has had a dental, mass removal, microchip, vaccines, and HW testing. We recognize that Petey has ongoing health concerns that come with regular medical expenses, but she is happy and stable. There is no knowing how much time she has left, and we just want to find her the best fur-ever home. If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application online at
