BIOGRAPHY

MEET BERTY! Liberty, aka “Berty” is a 1.5-year-old dachshund and chihuahua mix who entered rescue after having been trapped with his littermates and spending a year with an individual who had planned to vet & adopt out of litter. Unfortunately, life happened and plans didn’t pan out, so the boys were all turned over to rescue!

Liberty’s foster says: “Berty... where do I start…? He is shy around new people, his past may have a lot to do with that. At first, he was unsure what a toy was, but now he loves toys… stuffed squeaky toys. He is learning how to play fetch with his toys too, but he doesn't like to drop them so I can throw them. He likes to chase the cat but tucks tail and runs screaming, yes, screaming if the cat turns to chase him. He gets the zoomies, loves to run, and those little doxie legs don't slow him down. Berty is going to make a very loyal boy for someone. Just show him patience. When I come home from work, he gets very excited, using his deep, big boy voice, jumping and dancing around on our way outside. He is treat-motivated, and positive reinforcement works well for him.  I feel he would do best with older kids due to him using his mouth to express his excitement. He may do well with another dog his age he can play with.”

Liberty is fostered in Massillon, OH and is available for an adoption fee of $400.00. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. If you think he is the perfect addition to your family, please fill out an application on this site.  Meet & greets will not be scheduled without an approved application on file.
